I upgraded my system with Vista end of last week. I also upgraded the NVidia drivers for my card. The only driver that I cannot find currently is my monitor driver but it is using the generic. When I go into everquest II I can get about 15 to 20 mins of gameplay and then I am booted out of the game and receive an error that it is not responding. I changed the compatibility to Windows XP (service pack 2) and still freeze up. Any suggestions anyone

Everquest II player with problems
I'm having the same issue so don't feel alone. When I die or zone it kicks me to the desktop and closes the client. But don't get too down. I can't even get EQ1 to open up in Vista due to a missing directx 9.0.c file

I seem to be fine now with EQ2 since the nvidia vista driver install, are you running any mods such as eq2map or UI mods, have you tried running without them.
not much help , sorry could also do a vista search on the EQ2 forums I found a solution to EVE issues with Vista on the offical Eve forums , sometimes a lot more info is now starting to appaear on offical games forums rather than here :/
unfortunately same issues, no sound with EQ1

I have problems running EQ2 as well and as the case may have it I would rather spend more time playing than finding a way to make it work in Vista, lol! But I've spent a little time and this is what I've found...
My primary stats... level 68 dark el... oh wait, I mean for my computer:
Abit A8N-32 SLi w/ AMD +3700 San Diego CPU, 2 GB Corsair RAM, 7900 GTX along with a Sound Blaster X-Fi EM.
I installed Vista followed by the nVidia drivers. In some respects the nVidia drivers work great and in others they don't. Simple fact, these aren't complete drivers just yet. They are beta drivers so you get what you expect with beta. No fault to anyone, just part of the process. Anyway, simple adage here is if you have trouble with the nVidia drivers revert back to the original. We all want to test and this was just my part of testing and when nVidia releases a new version I will promptly install it, heheh. The literature between the web, pdf, etc is also a little sketchy about whether the 7900 is fully supported and from what I can tell it is... sorta. So I'm hoping the next version will be a bit more clear.
So with the nVidia drivers my game would crash anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes after starting. Typically at anytime whether zoning or not but that's besides the point. It would happen without fail. I reverted back to the original Vista driver and the game worked for about 45 minutes or so until I attempted to /camp desktop. That's when the game locked up (at the end of the countdown) and would not complete close. It took me a few minutes to finally wiggle my way to a crash point so that the OS dumped it without me resetting the computer. I've only tried once in this configuration but at least for me it appears to be clearly a driver issue. While in game my FPS was a bit lower but not horribly so. It's not performing like it does in XP but there's time still for that as well I could have made adjustments in game to help. The image did seem a little sharper and more colorful. Could have been a lack of or reduction in AA and Anisotropic filtering. Something I haven't had the time to fiddle with.
I'm not sure how long I will remain with the Vista driver as other games won't work now (like the Prey demo.) Hopefully the next release of the nVidia driver will be more complete or in the least more fleshed out, heheh.
Until then I'll keep booting into XP when it's time to slay evil minions!

Well as much as I hate to, I uninstalled EQ2 and am installing fresh into vista. I will try anything at this point. I know the drivers are a big part of the issue, but maybe I can go just a little longer than 5 minutes. I have noticed that when I am in Sinking Sands on the beach I crash more. So that isn't much of a help right now. I have a lvl 70 Pally and a lvl 47 swashy that are doing writs or gaining xp in there. I don't want to go elsewhere.
I will just hope this helps a bit and plug along and hope the driver updates come soon. I did do one other thing, I disabled my sound card ;o(. Now that takes alot of fun out of the game, but I know the beta driver is coming soon.
Good Luck everyone. On the other hand, vista runs awesome on my system. And I am enjoying it very much.

Have increased my up time considerably by, changing default Theme from Windows Vista to Windows Classic. This has not completely stopped this from happening.
In Event Viewer I would see this message:
The program EverQuest2.exe version 1.0.0.1 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Problem Reports and Solutions control panel. Process ID: 510 Start Time: 01c6a4a8a7dcfef3 Termination Time: 132
